Brahmin Roots ("we", "us", "our") is a matrimony service operated by Hyperneural Technologies LLP, an Indian company. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use the Brahmin Roots mobile application and website (together, the "Service"), how we use it, and the rights you have over it.

By creating an account you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and that you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Who this policy applies to

This policy applies to everyone who uses Brahmin Roots, anywhere in the world. It is drafted to comply with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act") and the EU General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR"). Where a stricter standard applies to you, we apply that stricter standard.

2. Data we collect

2.1 Data you give us directly

• Identity: first and last name, gender, date of birth, mother tongue, photo(s).
• Contact: mobile number (used to log in via OTP), optional email address.
• Community & heritage: gotra, sub-sect, regional community, family deity, caste-adjacent fields you choose to add.
• Relationship context: marital status, marital history, whether you are looking for a first marriage or remarriage.
• Lifestyle & values: diet, drinking, smoking, spiritual practice, occupation, education, income band, languages spoken.
• Kundli (horoscope): an image or PDF you upload voluntarily.
• First Feeling video: an optional short video you record to introduce yourself.
• Messages: text you send to other members through our in-app messaging.

2.2 Data we collect automatically

We collect device and diagnostic data (model, OS version, app version, language, time zone, approximate location derived from IP), usage data (screens viewed, features used), and crash data.

3. How we use your data

We use your data to create and operate your account, show your profile to matched members, enable messaging, process payments, ensure platform safety, and improve the product. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

4. International transfers

Our primary data residency is India (AWS Mumbai). Some processors such as Google Firebase may process data in the United States or the European Union.

5. Sharing and disclosure

Your profile is visible inside Brahmin Roots to members whose search preferences you match and whose preferences match yours. You always control which photos appear on your profile, whether your Kundli is visible to a specific match, and whether your bio and life-stance answers are visible publicly or only to mutual matches.

We share personal data with the following categories of processors, under written contracts that restrict them to these purposes:

• Google Firebase (Google LLC) — phone-number OTP, push notifications, crash reports, analytics.
• Razorpay Software Pvt. Ltd. — payment processing.
• Amazon Web Services — cloud hosting (servers physically located in Mumbai, ap-south-1).
• Google Workspace — our customer-support inbox.

We do not sell your personal data. We disclose personal data to law enforcement, regulators, or other authorities only when we have a good-faith belief that we are legally required to do so.

6. How long we keep your data

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we erase your profile, messages, photos, and videos within 30 days. Inactive accounts are automatically deleted after 24 months of inactivity.

7. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and to withdraw consent or object to processing. You can exercise these rights inside the app or by writing to hello@brahminroots.com.
